No meeting tonight, Cloverbuds! We are taking the month of August off to recover from the Fair and Back-to-School madness :)
We hope everyone enjoyed the Union County Fair this year. So many of our Cloverbuds entered Open Class projects with wonderful results. We can't wait to hear about everyone's Fair experiences at our next meeting!
Our September meeting will on Tuesday, September 21st, at 6pm, and will be our final meeting of the year. We will post more details soon!

CLOVERBUDS ~ July Meeting Agenda
DATE
Tuesday, July 20th @6pm
Allen Township Community Building

MEETING TOPIC
Creating a Photography or Creative Arts
entry for the Union County Fair
KINDHEARTED ACT
Our club is sponsoring a 4H award for the fair!
Our KindHearted Cloverbuds are partnering with KH4H to sponsor 2 awards. One award is for Scrapbooking and the other will be an animal award.
What a super way to be KIND HEARTED!
We will talk more about this at our meeting :)
ADDITIONAL MEETING INFO
Our Goal for this meeting will be to have each Cloverbud create an entry to enter in the Union County Fair. We will have the rules and entry forms available and will give instructions on how to enter these projects in the Fair.
We are planning to focus our meeting on photography and are hoping each child interested in entering a photograph in the Fair can bring a digital camera to the meeting to shoot pictures. Our hope is that one of these pictures will be entered into the Fair in the Open Class Photography Department. We are planning to contact a local photographer to come to our meeting and talk to us about how to take great photos.
Here is a list of just some of the Photography categories:
(can be either COLOR or BLACK & WHITE)
For the Cloverbuds not interested in photography or unable to bring a digital camera, we will have supplies available for working on a drawing, watercolor painting or mixed media art project. Our hope is that one of these art projects will be entered in the Fair in the Open Class Creative Arts Department.
Here is a list of just some of the Creative Arts categories:
You are welcome to bring along anything that you would like to photograph or draw or paint a picture of...a bowl of fruit, a vase of flowers, a picture of the beach that you'd like to like paint or draw...the ideas are endless! Start thinking about what you'd like to do and we will see you on July 20th!

CLOVERBUDS ~ June Meeting Rundown
A BIG THANK YOU to our Cloverbuds who donated healthy snacks for the firemen at the Allen Township Fire House. We had a great time touring their Fire Station and learning about all the many things that firefighters do.
We were reminded to STOP, DROP and ROLL and cover our faces with our hands if our clothes ever catch on fire.
We learned about the gear that firefighters have to wear and that it weighs nearly 50 pounds! They let us listen to the funny sound the firefighters make when they breathe with their masks on (kind of like Darth Vader). They reminded us not to be scared of them when we hear this noise...they are always there to help us!Before we left, the firefighters gave us all a souvenir fireman hat...what a great end to our meeting!
Our next meeting is July 20th...more info to come soon! :)

CLOVERBUDS ~ May Meeting Rundown
THANKS FOR A GREAT MAY MEETING!
A BIG THANK YOU to all of our Cloverbuds for the great donations you brought in for the Union County Humane Society (UCHS).
We hope you enjoyed the presentation by Steffen Baldwin, the Executive Director of the UCHS, and his pal, Merlin.
![]() | ![]() |
Steffen was able to provide us with lots of good information, including the fact that the UCHS serves over 1,300 stray pets a year! He told it was important to remember that pets always require 3 things: food, water and shelter. He also taught us how to approach a stray dog...first, by being a 'tree' standing still with our chins tucked or by being a 'rock'.
![]() | ![]() |
Steffen also read us a story about dogs and taught us that we need to ask the owners of pets for permission to pet their dogs to keep us safe. He said volunteers are always welcome at the Humane Society to help walk dogs and do other helpful things, but first must complete a volunteer orientation that is offered once a month at the library. Also, all volunteers under the age of 16 must have an adult volunteer with them.
To finish up our meeting, we made some photo frames using the wonderful pictures that Miss Corie took of us at our last meeting with Shelby's pet bunny!
We left for home with doggie bags full of puppy chow to finish up our pet themed meeting. Here's the recipe for Puppy Chow if you'd like to make more at home: http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1747,133182-252193,00.htmlLooking forward to another fun-filled Cloverbud Meeting in June. We are hoping to schedule a tour of the Allen Township Fire Station. Details to follow soon :)

KH4H Fair Reminders
KH4Hers ~
The fair is upon us ~ It's time to be finishing up projects or shifting into high gear ~ Our meeting on July 15 at 7 p.m. will be completely fair-focused ~
Everyone needs to be prepared to share something that they've put together to demonstrate what they've learned from one of their projects ~ Even if they don't plan on showing at this year's fair, we would still like to see what you've learned ~ This is your time to show-off and let everyone see how hard you've been working ~
The easiest way to show your progress is probably in the form of a poster ~ Also make sure you have completed the Discovering 4H book (you can use this as your fair project) We will be presenting the group with some questions about the Discovering 4H project to make sure everyone has completed it (we are required to do this by the Extension office)
So the bulk of our meeting will be focused on project progress and finishing Discovering 4H ~

CLOVERBUDS!
Our next meeting is on Wednesda, July 1 @ 6 PM ~ Allen Township Building
JUST A REMINDER! This will be the last meeting before the Fair ~ We will work on getting a display together for the fair to represent our group AND we will be making decorations for the parade ~
Please bring to the next meeting the following:
Two Large Bags of Wrapped Candy that we can hand out on the Parade Route
A Plain 4-Leaf Clover cut out of any color green poster board (approx. 12 X 12 inches in size) ~ we will decorate these at our meeting to be used on the trailer/truck for decorations ~
A school picture size of yourself ~ We will use these to create our fair display poster ~ the picture doesn't have to be your school picture it just has to be cut to about that small size (1X2)
Your Nature Board if you decorated it from our Field Trip
AND....any interesting pictures or photos that your child plans on entering in open class and would like to share ~
I know this is a lot more than usual but given the time crunch, it will help Rachel and I to have some things done ahead of time (like the Clovers)
Please Call or E-Mail if you have any questions ~ We will give everyone final instructions regarding the fair parade at the July 15 meeting ~
